2020 LADIES’ PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Tilehurst Bowling Club
I am delighted and honoured to be your President for the 2020 season. I thank my club Tilehurst for their support and for hosting several of the events on behalf of the County. The hard work that goes on behind the scenes by the host club at these events is very much appreciated.
Once again the County has a full programme of Inter County matches, so please put your name down to play in them and I look forward to playing with you in these and my President’s Day games.
Good luck and good bowling to all of you that have entered County and National Competitions and to the players in the Johns, Walkers and Amy Rose Teams.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow members of the Ladies Executive Committee for their help and support in the forthcoming season.
My chosen charity for 2020 is Helen and Douglas, which is a hospice for terminally ill children.Have a great season and most of all enjoy yourselves.
2020 MEN’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Tilehurst Bowling Club
I would like to thank everyone in selecting me to become President of the Royal County of Berkshire Bowling Association for this coming season. I take this as a great honour and I will do my best to uphold the tradition of the County.
I thank my Club, Tilehurst for nominating me and supporting me in the coming year.
A President of any county or club could not perform his duties without the support of his committee and Berkshire is blessed with a highly committed and experienced Executive committee and without them I would not be able to carry out my duties. I would like to congratulate our past President Keith Sawdon for doing an excellent job last year and I will try to maintain the standard that Keith has set. I know I will have the support of my Presidential team in the form of Peter Hitt (Senior Deputy) and Mike Rees (Junior Deputy).
The County had a successful season last year and I would like to congratulate all of our bowlers with a special mention to those that are representing England in the British Isles Championship in June.
I would like to wish all the best to the Home Counties and Middleton Teams and Managers this year. Hopefully Barry Dillon will be able to find enough Juniors to defend the title that they won last year.
Bowls is not all about competitions I think it is one of the best social sports that can be inclusive to everybody, what other game can you be playing with your grandson or granddaughter on a nice sunny afternoon making happy memories.
I would like to set a challenge to all bowlers to at least sometime during the season to encourage family or friends to go along to your club open day or evening rollup to try our wonderful sport.
My chosen charity this year is the Thames Valley Air Ambulance which I am sure I do not have to explain the good work that is carried out by them, I hope you will also help me in supporting this good cause.
Lastly the main thing that I would like to say is Bowls is all about enjoyment be it competitive or social please remember this and treat everybody with respect.
Good Bowling to you all.
