Mens President 2017
Ladies President 2017
MENS PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
It is a great honour and privilege to have been elected Men’s President of The Royal County of Berkshire Bowling Association for 2017. I will endeavour to uphold the standards and traditions of my predecessors.
I would sincerely like to thank Thatcham Bowling Club for nominating me and their continued support, past and present.
I offer my congratulations to Richard Heathman, our immediate Past President, on a very successful year and thank him, and the other members of our Executive Committee, for their help and guidance over the past two years.
I look forward to working closely with our Senior Deputy President, Peter Oakley. I welcome on board our new Junior Deputy President Keith Sawdon, who has also taken on the role as Honorary Competition Secretary from John Higgs. I would like the opportunity to thank John Higgs for all his hard work that he has done for the Association. I would also like to thank Bill Greenway for his past efforts and wish him well for the future.
Every President hopes to be able to lift the coveted Middleton Cup and I am no exception to the rule.
To all the Selection Committee, County Coach, Middleton Cup Manager and his team, the under 30 Squad Manager and the Umpires, thank you for your support.
The County has a full programme of Inter County matches, Bannerettes and Celebration matches this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the numerous clubs involved for hosting these events. I appreciate all the long days and hard work that goes into these. Without volunteers and club members these events would not be possible to take place.
I hope to see many old friends that I have made on my journey to this office and look forward to meeting new ones in the forthcoming year. I also look forward to welcoming new members to the Association.
I wish all bowlers, and their families, good health and good luck for the coming year.
LADIES PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
I am extremely honoured to be your President for 2017 and sincerely thank my Club, Reading Bowls Club for nominating me. I know that I could not do this job without their wholehearted support; I hope I make you proud when I represent you all.
Reading Bowling Club has a proud history of providing members and no less than 6 Lady Presidents to the county association and I am very happy to continue in that tradition.
2017 will, as ever, be a busy year with friendly and competitive games, competitions both National and County all to be fitted into a very full diary! We hope to build on the great start that we had with the Amy Rose team last year and look forward to even more success in Johns Trophy, Walker cup and all the other Competitions and Championships that we enter. I wish you all well .
The wonderful thing about bowls is that there is room for all: the players who just want to play friendlies, chatting as we go, the competitor still awaiting that elusive first great win, and the seasoned “professionals” who have seen it all, done it all but still thoroughly enjoy, as we all do, this great sport of ours:- Enjoy!
I look forward to the 2017 season hoping that we have success but most of all plenty of fun, meeting friends both old and new along the way.
